A Painter and a Potter: Paired Perceptions
Long Island painter and printmaker, Anita Lamb, and former Connecticut College mathematics professor and potter of 35 years, Stanley Wertheimer, have developed an affinity for each other's works since being introduced several years ago. They found that a complementary artistic viewpoint existed between their works which became apparent in form, color, juxtaposition and feeling. Anita’s oil paintings capture colorful landscapes in their simplest form, and mirror the clean and natural lines of Stan’s raku pottery. Raku was developed in Japan in the early 1500’s as the ceremonial tea-ware of the Zen Buddhist Masters; it is noted for its unpretentiousness and beauty. True to its Zen origins, Stan’s pottery encompasses this simplicity of form, color, texture and composition without utility. Special Thanks to our Sponsor
